UMOJA meaning UNITY….IN ST. JAMES PARK

On Sunday 30th July starting at 1pm the first UMOJA presented by Commffest will be held in St James Park. The event is a reflection of our Shared History through music….kicking off the proceedings will be renowned Toronto Historian BRUCE BELL telling us stories & events of the past surrounding St James Park….Followed by the music of Juno nominated BROOKE BLACKBURN who’s name is tied to the history of the Underground Railroad, also appearing will be the RED BEAR SINGERS a group made up of Residential School survivors and intergenerational singers. ROSEMARY SADLIER will talk further about the festival theme and explores how communities are shaped by people’s ethnicity, language, arts, and culture and how representation matters. There will also be a surprise guest appearance for all ages of MUFFY MOUSE from TV’s Today Special….The list of great artists appearing continues with the wonderful TABBY JOHNSON, Juno Award winner ADAM SOLOMON is a guitar maestro known for reviving the classic sounds of the masters of popular East African music, The amazing harmonica player ARDON BESS, The enlightning DANIEL EBY CHOIR, Always a delight to listed to SUE & DWIGHT, The tuneful ALAN COHEN QUARTET,  Two great bands. one named KOOK and the other DONKEY will perform a variety of music from around the world….A wonderful line-up for a wonderful day…
